JIM STRICKLAND, ESQ.
I was born and raised in Newnan, Georgia. The time I spent here, from my childhood through my days playing baseball for the East Coweta Indians, formed a strong connection between myself and this community. When I left to begin college at Kennesaw State University, I knew that I wanted to return someday to contribute to the community I had grown so fond of, I just didn’t know how yet.
During my first year at Kennesaw State University, I took a class that piqued my interest in the law. During my second year of college I transferred to the University of Georgia and became a Criminal Justice major intent on attending law school.
Although I wasn’t even in law school yet, this experience was instrumental in becoming familiar with the prosecutorial side of the legal system. It was also during this time that my interest in the law became a passion that I have to this day.
After graduating from the University of Georgia, I enrolled at the University of Arkansas School of Law. During my second year of law school, I was named Ben J. Altheimer Moot Court Champion. In my third year of law school, I participated in the University of Arkansas School of Law Advanced Civil Clinic. This clinic provided free legal representation, with a focus on unpaid wage claims, wage disputes, and minimum wage/overtime violations. My time in the clinic truly strengthened my desire to be an advocate and to fight for my clients.
Since graduating from law school, I have been back in Georgia working primarily on criminal and family law cases. Over the past several years I have handled hundreds of criminal cases, getting dismissals, negotiating plea deals and going to trial. I have tried cases dealing with misdemeanors and traffic violations including DUI's to serious felonies such as armed robbery and aggravated assault.
I am eager to continue mixing my passion for the law and my desire to help people in this community when they need it the most. Please call or contact us today if you have any questions or concerns with a legal situation that you are in, get help when you need it the most.
